The Kickapoo Valley Reserve hires staff for field and office positions as needed. The number of seasonal positions varies each year based on project goals and/or returning staff.  The education program welcomes applications at any time for instructors or naturalists. 

 

Guide and Instructor Positions

The Kickapoo Reserve Management Board (KRMB) in La Farge, Wisconsin is accepting applications for Education Program Instructors/Naturalists for the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Education Programs. Applicants should be motivated individuals who enjoy being outdoors and teaching children. They will be expected to guide activities and programs focusing on a wide variety of environmental sciences and outdoor recreation activities at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, such as pond study, animal tracking, orienteering, ice hikes, low ropes challenge course, geology, and human history (curriculum/supplies provided by KVR). The ideal candidate(s) should have a flexible schedule and an appreciation for outdoor and nature awareness education. Experience working with students of different ages and the ability to work effectively with the public are also required. Applicants should be motivated and able to work independently. Instructors are able to pick the dates of availability based upon the needs of the scheduled programs. Programs are scheduled year-round and typically occur Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 4:30 PM, with most instructional time running 9:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Selected individuals will receive an hourly wage set by contractual agreement for compensation with an expectation of teaching at least four (4) classes each year. Training is available, but prior experience working in a teaching and/or nature environment is preferred.
