Baltimore Oriole - (Icterus galbula) Audio
Identification
- Medium-sized songbird
- Male has black head, bill, wings, back and
tail; bright orange breast underparts, rump, and outer corners of tail
- Female duller with brownish-olive head
and back, pale "washed out" orange underparts, two dull white wingbars
- 7-8" (18-21 cm.)
Habitat
- Deciduous forests, residential areas
- Open areas with tall trees
Additional Information
- Common migrant and summer resident
- Builds long, woven, hanging nest at
end of small branch
