Identification

  • Small songbird, drab grey or greenish grey above
  • White underneath with yellowish sides
  • Light eye ring, thin dark eyeline
  • Faint wingbars
  • Tail may flick or bob
  • 4.75" (12 cm.)

Habitat

  • Thickets, thick brushy edges

Additional Information

  • Rare migrant, highly localized summer resident
  • Wisconsin threatened species
  • Hard to see, easier to hear distinctive
         squeaky-chattery song
  • Present on the Reserve in recent summers
