  • Small, slim songbird
  • Mottled brown above, white below
  • White stripe above eye
  • Slender curved beak
  • Long tail
  • 5.5" (14 cm.)

Habitat

  • Deciduous forest, residential areas

Additional Information

  • Fairly common migrant, fairly common
         summer and winter resident
  • Well-camouflaged
  • Hitches its way up a tree in a spiral
         around the trunk
  • Builds nest behind loose bark on dead trees
