  • Reddish brown above, unstreaked
         pale rown below
  • Long, curved bill
  • Bold white eyestripe
  • 5.5" (14 cm.)

Habitat

  • Variety of brushy areas

Additional Information

  • Not migratory
  • A southern species, population is
         spreading north with mild winters
  • Some found nesting in southern
         Wisconsin, varies according to
         occurrences of harsh winter weather
  • Long ringing song with variations, often
         in triplets
  • Often forages on or near the ground
