- Brown above with crest
- Black mask around eyes
- Yellowish below
- Waxy red "dots" on otherwise
plain grey-brown wings - Grey tail with yellow tip
- 7.25" (8cm.)
Habitat
- Wide variety of habitats, including forests,
forest edges, yard trees, fields with scattered trees - Fruit-bearing trees and shrubs are favored
Additional Information
- Common migrant and summer resident
- Sometimes found in winter
- Fruit eater, also eats insects in the summer
- Found in juniper groves in winter, also
hawthorns and crabapples - Common summer resident on the Reserve
