- Underside of wing has dark bar near the end

- Common migrant, fairly common
summer resident - Nests on the ground
- May use urban buildings with flat
gravel roofs for nesting - Nocturnal, sometimes heard at night
over towns, calling while hunting insects call --nasal buzz - Often seen in large numbers during fall
migration --late August and September
