  • Small songbird
  • Grey above, light below
  • Bright yellow crown
  • Bright yellow patch on wings
  • Black bib
  • Black around eyes with white just
        
    above and below
  • Female similar with duller coloring
  • 4.75" (12 cm.)

Habitat

  • Deciduous shrubs, cutovers, may sing from elevated perches

Additional Information

  • Fairly common migrant
  • Wisconsin species of special concern
  • Population in decline
  • Hybridizes with Blue-winged Warbler
  • Found on the Reserve during migration, no
        longer a regular breeder in this area
