Identification
- Small songbird, large sparrow
- Brown above with dark streaks
- White below with streaked sides
- Two white wingbars
- Black face, crown, and throat
- Pink bill
- Immature has less black on crown and throat
- 7.5" (19 cm.)
Habitat
- Hedgerows and brushy edges
Additional Information
- Rare migrant and winter visitor
- Nests in the far north, in the transition
zone between the boreal forest and the tundra more commonly found in winter farther west -- KS, OK, and TX
