  • Small flycatcher
  • Grey above, light below with greyish
         wash on breast
  • Prominent eye ring, two wingbars
  • Large head
  • 5.25" (13 cm.)

Habitat

  • Deciduous or mixed forest
  • Forest edges or openings

Additional Information

  • Common migrant, uncommon summer
  • Resident southern Wisconsin
  • Smallest flycatcher in this area
  • Gives dry "che-BEK" call, often from a
         conspicuous perch
  • Nests often built in crotches or forks
         of trees in lower to mid canopy
