Lesser Scaup - (Aythya affinis) 

Identification

  • A diving duck which may occur in large
        
    flocks or “rafts”
  • Males: Dull purple head, greyish back, white sides, black breast, tail, neck and shoulders with a bluish bill
  • Female: mostly brown, white patches at base of bill.
  • 17” (40 cm)

  • Marshes, ponds,
