  • Small songbird
  • Brown above, whitish below
  • White stripe above eye
  • White striping on upper back
  • 5-6" (13-15 cm.)

Habitat

  • Shallow marsh

Additional Information

  • Common migrant, fairly common
         summer resident
  • Prefers extensive cattail marshes
  • Erratic nester -- may show up in an
        
    area one year and not the next
  • Song is a rattly trill
  • Sings day and night
