  • Large bird of prey with dark back and wings
  • White head with dark stripe through eye
  • White breast and belly
  • 22-25" (56-64 cm.)

Habitat

  • Lakes, wooded swamps

Additional Information

  • Uncommon/occasional migrant in KVR
  • Common summer resident in northern
         Wisconsin, less common central WI,
         and rare in south
  • Also known as "fish hawk"
  • Dives for fish, feet first
