- Small dark bird with short yellow bill
- Brown above, grey on neck and chest,
- Black area around beak
- Greenish legs, big toes
- 8.75" (22 cm.)
Habitat
Additional Information
- Common migrant and summer resident
- Secretive, easily heard, less easily seen
- Most commonly known call -- a descending whinny, often in reponse to other loud noises
- Nests are often built with overhanging
