  • Dull olive above, buffy below
  • Black stripes on buffy head
  • Dark eyeline
  • Pale yellow throat
  • Short broad unmarked tail
  • 5-5.5" (14 cm.)

Habitat

  • Mature forest, hillsides, shady ravines

Additional Information

  • Rare spring migrant and summmer resident
  • Wisconsin endangered species
  • More common in SE United States
  • Eats caterpillars, other insects, and spiders
  • Forages for insects from dead leaf clusters
  • Perches and sings in high tree tops
  • Extremely rare in KVR area
