Trails on the Kickapoo Valley Reserve

Kickapoo Valley Reserve has an extensive system of natural surface trails for equestrians, bikers, and hikers. The equestrian and mountain bike trails are open from May 1 through November 15, as weather permits. Hiking is permitted year-round on all trails.

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve will temporarily close equestrian and mountain bike trails during and/or after rain events. The duration of the closure depends on many factors, such as amount of rain, when the last rain event occurred, and the weather since the last rain event. Therefore, trails may be closed on bright sunny days if a rainfall occurred the previous day(s) or during the night. Check with the Reserve office if you are unsure of trail conditions, visit the KVR Facebook page or check the home page of our website for current trail status. The Old Highway 131 Trail and Star Valley Trail will remain open for equestrian and bike use during wet conditions (even if other trails are closed). Bridge 13 on Old Highway 131 Trail has been registered as a historic marker.

Notice: The Reserve is open for public hunting. Consult the Reserve calendar or contact the Reserve office for more information.
