Hiking

Perhaps, the best way to experience the Reserve is on foot. Hiking is allowed throughout property and on all trails, all year long and any type of weather.

Please note that there are not bridges at the trail crossings of Warner or Weister Creeks. Trail crossings are generally shallow yet too wide to jump across. Plan accordingly.

All visitors are required to obtain a camping and/or use permit. Permits are available at the Reserve Visitor Center during regular business hours and online.

Be courteous and cautious while you explore and enjoy. Yield to horseback riders; horse can be easily startled. Talking to the horses helps the animal differentiate you from a wild predator.

Trail Etiquette

The Kickapoo Reserve Management Board acknowledges that the state and federal lands that comprise the Reserve fall within the ancestral homelands of First Nations people including the Hooçak Nation. We recognize the sovereignty of the Hooçak and other First Nations and will work towards a shared future by continuing to create collaborative opportunities to protect and preserve these lands.
