Creative Communities Canvas Project 

January 2 - March 22, 2020
The Creative Communities Canvas Project is a community art project involving 300 artists of all ages and talents. Participants receive a 6-inch-by-6- inch art canvas to artistically interpret the following phrase as it pertains to nature:

                         Nature's Stories

Art canvases can be picked up at the KVR Visitor Center starting January 2; canvases can be picked up from local libraries beginning January 20. All canvases must be returned to the KVR Visitor Center by February 24, 2020 by 4:30pm.

Creative Communities Canvas Online Auction 
February 29, 2020 - March 22, 2020

Canvases will be available through online auction. Auction opens at 5pm CST on February 29, 2020 and closes on March 22, 2020 at 5pm CST. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the KVR and NATOW with proceeds going to the KVR education & events programs. The canvases will be exhibited at the KVR Visitor Center Saturday, February 29- Saturday, March 21, 2020. 



Online Art Auction opens February 29th at 5 pm CST and Closes Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 5 pm CST

Creative Communities Fundraiser & Social
February 29, 2020  5 pm - 7 pm

An evening of art immersion awaits you. Make plans to attend the Grand Opening of the Creative Communities Canvas Project. Join us for locally sourced appetizers, locally made beverages and the unveiling of the 2020 canvas project as the KVR holds a Fundraiser & Social in support of its Education & Events Programs. Live music, an artist reception, art raffle and silent art auction round out the evening.  Admission is $5 at the door or purchase your tickets online.

Bidding stations will be set up and staffed to assist bidders with account set up.  A list of artists/canvases will be available at the event.

Where can I get a blank canvas?
Blank canvases are avaialble at the following locations:
The Creative Communities Canvas Project is done distributing and collecting canvases for 2020. 

The next round of blank canvases will be available January 4, 2021.


How do I bid on a canvas?
Visit and click on Featured Auctions.  Then in the search bar, type in the word Kickapoo, this will take you to the KVR Art Auction page.  Click on View All Items in the upper left  corner of your screen and you will be able to view and bid on your favorites.  Note:  You will need to create an account to bid.  The site is secure and you will not be asked for credit card information at the time of bidding.
