KVR Bird Club is an informal, not professional, but a respectful group of folks who get together that last Saturday of the month to learn, discuss and promote birds and bird conservation, with all topics of nature also considered; A “nature club with birds as the focus”. There are no fees, bi-laws, elected officials, formal votes, minutes, agendas or other formal organizational procedures.
During the colder months, we typically meet at the KVR Visitor Center, 8-8:30am, drink coffee, eat donuts and watch the bird feeders, all from the comforts of the lobby. During warmer months, the group meets at 7 am at a designated location to take a proper walk, usually within the Kickapoo Valley Reserve but other locations are possible. Please note: 7 am is a compromise among those that want to start at sunrise, and those who would rather not start until noon.
In addition to birds, we will discuss and identify any plants, squirrels, kangaroos (one never knows) and whatever else might come along. Meeting locations are announced via email a few days before the last Saturday taking in consideration of the weather forecast. An occasional email may be sent at other times to promote, share or announce nature/conservation related talks, volunteer opportunities n other such activities.
All folks on the email list are welcome to “reply all” to share bird or nature related announcements such as workshops, talks, field trips, rare bird sightings and other similar programs when appropriate.
In a nutshell, the KVR is an informal, not professional but a respectful group of folks who get together that last Saturday of the month to learn, discuss and promote birds and bird conservation, with all topics of nature also considered.
Joining is easy….send a self-addressed return email to email@example.com to be added to the list.
