  • Short, pointed tail
  • Flat head with pale center stripe
  • Unstreaked tan breast
  • 5-5.25" (11-13 cm)

Habitat

  • Short to medium-height grasslands,
         hay fields, and prairies

  • Uncommon migrant and summer resident
  • Wisconsin species of special concern
  • Population in decline
  • Name derives from its insect-like buzzy song
  • Difficult to see, usually noticed by song
