  • Long black bill
  • Rusty color under tail

Habitat

  • Shrubby areas, roadsides, forest edges

  • Common migrant and summer resident
  • Sings series of squeaky notes that imitate
         other birds' songs
  • Call sounds like cat's mew
  • Will remove cowbird eggs from its nest
  • Builds nests in dense shrubs, small
         trees, or vines
  • Common summer resident on KVR
